//////////////////////////////////////////////// JIM GUTHRIE ROCKS
After a few years at sea, the legendary Jim Guthrie, veteran of Royal City & Islands, namesake for Three Gut Records & creator of hugely beautiful records such as Morning Noon Night & Now More Than Ever, is set to take the stage for a weekend of shows in late March 2010:
On Friday March 26th Jim'll be at Toronto's El Mocambo, the venue favored by The Rolling Stones, nowadays familiar to acts like Growing, Fuck Buttons, M. Ward & Joanna Newsom. Opening for Jim in Toronto will be the entirely awesome PS I LOVE YOU and lofi rad dudes Culture Reject.
On Saturday March 27th Jim'll be at the storied Starlight in Waterloo with Tyson & the Trepids.
You may reasonably expect mad hitz from Jim's back catalogue such as 1901, Trouble & You Are Far (Do You Exist?) along with a few surprises. For details & to help spread the word, stop by the event page here.
Jim'll be onstage with 'his litter', a tightly rehearsed new seven-piece band including:
- Nathan Lawr on drums (Royal City, Fembots)
- Samir Khan on bass (Tusks)
- Jordan Howard on guitar (The Magic, The Skeletones Four)
- Shaw Han Liem on keyboards (I Am Robot And Proud)
- Randy Lee on violin (The Bicycles)
- Jeremy Strachan on sax (Canaille, Feuermusik)
- Nick Bulligan on trumpet (Canaille)
To mark the occasion we've added Jim's clip "Now, Skate or Die!" to the CINEMATHEQUE - check it yo!
